The Lord of the Rings: Extended Films

As it was the anniversary of my birth this past equinox, I decided to celebrate with a healthy dose of my favorite fictional story on the planet. This time of the audio-visual aspect. That’s right folks, I watched the Lord of the Rings (Extended Edition) trilogy over the weekend. And I do not regret it a single bit. In fact, it really touched me. I’d only ever seen the normal editions since now, and these extended ones really were more faithful to Tolkien’s book, with more of that drawn out dialogue and focus on certain things.

It really is impossible to capture my emotion right now. Unless you have of course read the glorious book five times over and it’s your first time watching the extended editions of the films.

Breathe in, breathe out.

Well, not to bother you, but I will leave you with a singular scene from the films. In the form of a four and a half minute YouTube clip. It is titled “The Sacrifice of Faramir,” and I think it does very well to capture the essence of both book and movie.

Enjoy.
